Name conventions

When adding items to your project, note the following restrictions for the various item names in the Project Tree:

Project item	Restrictions
Classes	There are no restrictions on what characters are allowed in class names. Characters from non-western languages and right-to-left languages are allowed.
Fields	Field names cannot contain spaces and the first character of the name cannot be a number. In addition, the following characters are not allowed: /\"*?:<>\| and #!£$%^&,..
Formatters	Formatter names cannot include spaces or underscores and when adding a formatter you cannot type either of these characters. However, you can paste in a value that includes spaces or underscores. A warning message is displayed to indicate that these characters are not supported.
Locators	Locator names cannot include spaces. All other characters are allowed including characters from non-western languages and right-to-left languages.
Validation Rules	There are no restrictions on what characters are allowed in Validation Rule names. Characters from non-western languages and right-to-left languages are allowed.
Structure Rules	There are no restrictions on what characters are allowed in Structure Rule names. Characters from non-western languages and right-to-left languages are allowed.
