In contrast to audit trails, which communicate the history of a document, messages display the document-related actions of the current step.

Messages are automatically generated by the system. They are available for invoices and purchase orders. They include document-related actions such as checking and posting, status changes, ownership changes, and errors.

Messages include actions taken by the system and by users.
