PDF Fields
PSIcapture can use Adobe PDF form fields to import specific index data and incorporate it into your workflow. Below is a breakdown of how to use Adobe PDF form fields in a variety of workflow configurations.
The custom document properties of a PDF file in Acrobat Professional (
) can contain field names and index values. If those values are present, the user can import the PDF file, extract the Custom Property data, and place it into the index fields for later use in a Document Management system or for another purpose.Select Index from PDF fields when importing PDF files to enable PDF field mapping.
Click Add once for each field definition you want to import. The created definitions are listed in the middle.
Click Delete to remove the selected field definition.
The PDF Field Type column offers three choices: Standard PDF Field, Custom PDF Field, or PDF Form Field.
If you select Standard PDF Field, the choices in the PDF Field Name column are the four standard fields of all Adobe Acrobat Readers: Author, Title, Subject, and Keywords.
If you select Custom PDF Field, the choices in the PDF Field Name column are dependent on what has been added using the Manage Custom Fields option.
Clicking Manage Custom Fields opens the Manage PDF Custom Field List dialog box.
Click Load to browse to a PDF file that contains the custom fields you wish to import. Once a file is selected, the fields are read and added to the Manage PDF Custom Field List dialog box, and they also become available in the PDF Field Name column when the PDF Field Type is set to Custom PDF Field.
Clicking Manage Form Fields opens the Manage PDF Form Field List dialog box.
Click Load to browse to a PDF file that contains a list of form fields you would like to load into PSIcapture.
Click Delete in the Manage PDF Custom/Form Field List dialog boxes to remove the selected value. Click Clear to remove all values.
After selecting the PDF Field Type and PDF Field Name, select an index field in the Index Field Name column.
