Email and log alert options

In this tab, you can make administrators receive email notifications about system events. The emails are sent to the addresses listed on the Notification subscriptions tab.

Group Subgroup Description
Mail gateway options SMTP server

Enter the name of the SMTP server or IP address that sends the email notifications.

A test email should only be sent after filling out the other subgroups.

Sender address and authentication

Enter the email address, user name, and password for the sender of the email. For example, if Joe Smith is working at a network station, enter his email information to know which station is logging the error. Once the email and login information are set up, send a test email to ensure the connection.

Message logging options

When "Enable message logging" is selected, messages for Migration Success/Failure and for Notification Subscriptions are logged. Two entries are logged per email: one when the email is added to the message queue, and another when the message is sent or an error occurs. All log entries are added to the Capture Log or the Capture Services Log.

If clicking the Send Test Email button fails to send a test email, no log entry is created and an error message is displayed within the Capture Server tab.

Example of Error Message: [1/8/2014 8:22:49 AM] Error sending message(1) (To: @ABC.com; Subject: Auto Import Session Summary) Service not available, closing transmission channel. The server response was: 4.4.2 Message submission rate for this client has exceeded the configured limit

Example of Queue and Email Sent Message: [07/02/2014 08:30:09] Message added to queue (To: @ABC.com; Subject: Batch Deadline Notification : Batch Deadline in 48 hours) [07/02/2014 08:30:20] Message sent (To: @ABC.com; Subject: Batch Deadline Notification : Batch Deadline in 48 hours)

Log Alerts

Select to show log alerts generated on the local computer and on the capture server. When there is a new error in the log, a notification appears in the lower right corner of the status bar. (For example: "Log Alerts: 0.")
