Variable length separators
You may select from the following document separator options:
-
Separate on any Bar Code: Any bar code causes separation.
-
Separate on specific Bar Code values and patterns: Regular expressions can be used to create a desired pattern. If a bar code matches the pattern, separation occurs. For example, if the value is 990008:
-
Option 1: If the value 990008 exists anywhere in the bar code, separation occurs.
-
Option 2: When ^990008$ is entered as the value, only a bar code containing the exact string ("990008") causes separation.
-
Option 3: If the user wants to separate on certain positions, the user should use these brackets [] to enter value options. For example, if [0-3][a-f] was entered as the value, then separation would occur when the first character of a bar code is 0, 1, 2, or 3 and the second character of the bar code is a, b, c, d, e, or f (in that order).
-
-
Separate when Bar Code changes: Select this option when scanning documents that contain the same bar code value on more than one sequential pages. These documents have only one bar code per page or zone.
-
Separate after N Bar Codes: Separation occurs on the Nth bar code in the document.
-
Separate on N or more Bar Codes on a single page: Separation occurs when N or more bar codes exist on a single page.
-
Separate on exactly N Bar Codes on a single page: Separation occurs if exactly N bar codes exist on a single page.
-
Separate when Bar Code N on page changes: Separation occurs when the Nth bar code on a page changes.
-
Separate on any Patch Code: Any patch code causes separation.
-
Separate on specific Patch Code: Select from patch code types I, II, III, IV, VI, or T.
-
Separate on blank page: Separation occurs when a front side page is blank during scanning or at any blank page during import.
-
Separate on new file (Import Only): Separation occurs by file.
-
Separate when child folder N of selected directory changes (Import Only): Separation occurs when the Nth child folder changes. For example, Root1 is a first level child folder (N=1) and folders A–Z are second level child folders (N=2). In this example, if the user sets the child folder number (N) to 2, folders A–Z each become separate documents, as separation triggers on the second level of the child folder hierarchy.
-
Child Folder N: Select the value of the Nth level of the desired child folder.
-
-
Separate on specific Zone OCR/ICR values and patterns: Detecting a user-defined word in a zone or the entire page causes separation. Example: If the user enters "Page 1" into the field, PSIcapture creates a new document (separation) each time the word "Page 1" is read within the specified OCR/ICR zone.
-
Separate when Zone OCR/ICR value changes: Select this option if the scanned document contains a value that was read by zone OCR/ICR on more than one sequential pages and if the user desires to separate only when that value changes. Example: If you draw a zone around the "Invoice Number" when processing invoices, it separates whenever the number changes.
Separation occurs when any value in that zone changes.
-
Separate when Zone OCR/ICR Match value changes: Select this option and specify a regular expression to search the page or zone for specific patterns and separate when the pattern changes. Example: Enter the regular expression "\d{6}" and draw a zone around where the invoice number is located. This method searches the zone, then if a six digit number is located within that zone, PSIcapture checks to see if the number is different from the previous match and separation occurs when it changes.
-
Separate on any PDF Bookmark: Select this option when scanning documents that contain PDF bookmarks. Separation occurs if any bookmark is found.
-
Separate on specific PDF Bookmark values and patterns: Select this option when the user would like to separate on a specific PDF bookmark. For example, if the user is scanning a user manual, by entering a specific value of "chapter", PSIcapture separates any time it finds that value separating each chapter as a different document.
-
Separate on new Email (Import Only): Any new email causes separation.
Some separators unlock additional options:
UI element name | Description |
---|---|
Zone to search |
Lists the areas where the selected separator object can be searched for. "Entire Page" is selected by default, but you can select a different zone that was previously defined or click the Define Zones button to open the Zone Configuration dialog box, where you can define a new zone. |
Separation values |
Lists the separation values that are defined for this profile. Clicking Add Multiple opens the Add Multiple Separation Values dialog box, where you can enter multiple separation values or regular expressions at the same time. This button is only available when using values or patterns as a separator. In the Add Multiple Separation Values dialog box, each new line is a new separation value. Clicking Help opens the Regular Expression Help dialog box, which contains examples for pattern matching using regular expressions. |
Populate value with |
Determines how to populate the value after the separation values are entered.
|
Separate only when the Document separator value changes |
Performs separation only when the document separator value changes. |
Zone processing type |
Offers to use OCR or ICR as the zone processing type. |
Only separate on a specific PDF Bookmark level |
Performs separation on a specific PDF bookmark. If a PDF has multiple levels of bookmarks, separation can only occur on a single level. |
