Bar Codes
The bar code generator has a variety of unique settings to conform to the bar code extraction method that best suits your business needs.
Before adding a new bar code, you must first define the bar code as one of the following types:
-
Standard Bar Code: An all-purpose bar code that can be used for anything.
-
Batch Separator Bar Code: Used to separate batches that belong to different capture profiles. This option is useful when using Auto Recognize. A prefix of "CB-" is attached to the default value of the bar code.
Auto Recognize is a preset capture profile. It attempts to automatically identify the capture profiles for a set of capture images and separate those images into new batches of the correct type.
-
Batch Name Bar Code: Used to automatically populate the batch name when a new batch is created. A prefix of "BN-" is attached to the default value of the bar code.
-
Load Profile Bar Code: Used to automatically switch to a predefined scanner device profile. This option is useful when scanning a large stack containing varying types of documents or images that require different scanner settings for optimal image quality. A prefix of "LP-" is attached to the default value of the bar code.
-
PDF Bookmark Bar Code: Used to create a bar code based on a PDF bookmark.
-
Document Separator Bar Code: If an existing capture profile utilizes bar codes for document separation, adding a bar code of this type automatically generates a bar code for that exact application.
You are prompted to select the capture profile. Then you must select the specific bar code value on which the document should separate, as defined by the capture profile.
-
Folder Separator Bar Code: Similar to the Document Separator Bar Code option, this bar code is also used for separation but at the folder level.
-
Index Field Bar Code: Used to automatically populate index fields. You are prompted to select a document type and a specific index field.
Click Add to add a new bar code. The added bar code can be one of the following, which you can change in the list of bar codes:
-
Code 39 Extended (1D, default): This font type is very common and available freely on the internet. It can be downloaded, installed, and used in many different applications to create bar codes. A quick search on the internet should provide all the information needed.
-
Data Matrix (2D): This 2D bar code is commonly used when available space is an issue. A good amount of data can be entered using this bar code type, and it only uses a small area of the page.
Unwanted bar codes can be deleted by selecting them and clicking Delete. There can be multiple bar codes per sheet. The order of appearance of each bar code may be rearranged by selecting a specific bar code and clicking the Up or Down button to move it accordingly.
Formatting for the selected bar code
This group contains options to format the bar code and text.
Height: The bar code height can be adjusted by a measure of inches or centimeters.
Field separator: Select the special character to insert between fields for bar codes that contain multiple fields.
Font size: Set desired font size if Show readable text is enabled.
Show readable text: Display readable text under each bar code.
Fields for the selected bar code
Each field has a name and a potential default value. Default values are useful for bar codes with data that are exactly the same for multiple sheets. Fields can be added or removed by clicking the Add or Delete buttons. The ordering of the fields can be rearranged with the Up and Down buttons.
Each new field added must first be defined as one of the following:
-
Standard Field: An all-purpose field that can contain anything.
-
Document Separator Field: Used for document separator bar code.
-
Folder Separator Field: Used for folder separator bar code.
-
Index Field: Used to populate index fields.
