Data Population Settings

Select how the bar code index fields are populated: Manual, Database, or Text File.

  • Manual (default): All field data must be manually entered in the Bar code data grid.

  • Database: The Bar code data grid is automatically populated by performing a database lookup.

    The supported database types are:

    • Microsoft Access

    • Microsoft SQL Server

    • Oracle

    • IBM DB2

    • IBM Informix Dynamic Server

    • ODBC Complaint

    • OpenLink Virtuoso Server

Define a database by clicking the Select button. This button opens the Database Connection Setup dialog box, where you can browse for a database. Enter an ID login if the targeted database requires user authentication. Click Test Connection to test accessibility.

The formatting of the returned date/time/numeric data can be defined by entering letters in the Format column. Click Format Help to view a list of formatting expressions.

The database query can be refined with various criteria. Click the Build button to open the Query Builder dialog box.

See Capture Profile: Advanced Indexing for further details about data lookup.

  • Text file: Automatically populates the Bar code data grid by importing an existing text file.
