Bates Stamping Settings Definition

You can configure Bates stamps on two tabs:

  • Stamps

  • Options

Stamps tab

Name: This table lists the name tags for this Bates stamp. Click Add or Delete as needed to add different stamps.

Font: Select the desired font from the list of installed fonts.

Some fonts produce better results than others.

Font Color: Select one of the many colors of the system color palette.

Background Color: Select one of the many colors of the system color palette. We highly recommend selecting Transparent (default) or White.

Font Size: Select the desired font size.

Rotation: Select the desired rotation angle of the text on the image.

Position: Select the X and Y coordinates in either pixels or inches. Select the orientation of X (From Left or From Right) and the orientation of Y (From Top or From Bottom).

Stamp sections

Name: This table lists the name tags for this Bates stamp section.

Type: There are four section types to select from:

  • System Field: This option unlocks several system fields that can be selected in the Field list.

  • Index Field: Select from one of the defined batch/folder/document index fields from this document type in the Field list.

  • Constant: Select from any printable character in the Value field. A space or underscore is the most common character.

  • Auto Number: Select an options from the Counter list: New Counter Per Batch, or one of the defined shared counters, or click Setup and then Add to create a new shared counter.

Width: Set the number of digits for the Auto Number section.

  • Pad with character: Select the character to pad or prefix with if the width selected above is greater than its value.

Output format: Select the desired structure (mask) of the Bates string.

Convert to uppercase: Selecting this option causes all alpha characters to be printed in uppercase.

Counter: If New Counter Per Batch is selected, the user is asked to create a new counter each time a new batch is created. The user can also select one of the existing shared counters. Click Setup and then Add to create a new shared counter.

  • Display name: Enter a name for the new counter. This counter and all other existing counters are also accessible through Configuration: Shared Counters.

  • Initial value: Enter a numeric value as the starting point of this new counter.

  • Reload counter before incrementing: This option sets the value of the selected counter to 0.

While still in the Setup Counters dialog box, select a counter then click Edit to change its value.

Increment: Set a value by which to step up each time. Select to increment every page or folder.

Preview: The Preview field displays how the configured Bates stamp appears on the image.

Options tab

Create a border for Bates stamps: Creates a border for all Bates stamps.

  • Percent to shrink original image: The entire image is shrunk by this percentage.

  • Image position: Anchor the image in order to get the desired white space to stamp the image without over writing something on the image.

    • Anchoring to the Center creates equal space on all sides.

    • Anchoring to the Top creates space at the bottom of the image.

    • Anchoring to the Bottom creates space at the top of the image.

    • Anchoring to the Left creates space on the right side.

    • Anchoring to the Right creates space on the left side.

Processing option: Select which pages to process.

Enable multiple record support: If the migration is generating multiple documents (one for each record), select this option to ensure that values from the associated record are used to generate the stamp.
