Scanning settings constraints
Note the following when configuring scan settings, which depend on the type of device.
- All devices
-
-
Some Xerox devices have additional resolution settings or may have the settings Best, Highest, and Lowest.
-
When Output Color is set to Black & White, the Compression Quality setting has no effect.
-
When File Format is set to JPEG, Output Color cannot be set to Black & White. If the Output Color is set to Black & White, it is set to Color at runtime.
-
- AltaLink devices only
-
-
The Density setting is ignored. Instead, the density value is based on the Output Color setting:
-
Black & White : 1
-
Grayscale: 8
-
Color: 24
-
-
If the scan is done from the flatbed with the Original Size set to Auto Detect or Mixed, and the original size is not detected, the scan fails.
-
- VersaLink devices only
-
-
When Output Color is set to Auto Detect, the output file is always set to PDF regardless of the File Format setting.
-
If the scan is done from the flatbed with A4 paper, the Original Size set to Auto Detect or Mixed, and the original size is not detected, an error appears. Select another size, and the scan continues based on your selection.
-
- PrimeLink devices only
-
-
When Output Color is set to Auto Detect, the output file format is determined as follows:
-
If File Format is set to JPEG or Single Page Tiff, the output file is in TIFF format.
-
If File Format is set to XPS, the output file is in XPS format.
-
If File Format is set to any other option, the output file is in PDF format.
-
-
- PrimeLink and VersaLink devices
-
-
Quality/File Size settings are not available because those devices have their own compression settings.
