Scanning settings
This topic describes scanning settings that are available for Lexmark devices in the Unified Client Capture component.
These settings are configured on the General tab in the form settings. Select the Allow Changes check box next to any option to allow users to change the setting on the device console. The available options depend on the device type.

Page Size |
Indicates the size of paper being scanned.

Sides (Duplex) | Indicates if the document has one or two sides:

File Format | Indicates the type of the file to save scanned data. The
following file types are supported:

MultiPage TIFF | Specifies the MTIFF format:
You can only set this option in the AutoStore Process Designer.

Color | Indicates whether to scan the original in color or black and
white mode:

Mono Bit Depth | Specifies the bit depth when the Color
setting is set to Off. This setting is
ignored if Color is set to
On and the bit-depth is set to 24-bit.
This setting is only available with devices using eSF Framework
version 2.x or later.
You can only set this option in the AutoStore Process Designer.

Advanced settings
Setting | Description |
---|---|
Custom Job (hard drive) | Combines a set of original scan jobs into one single job. Jobs
can come from different sources and different settings.

Darkness |
Specifies if the scan has a dark or light tone. Choose the appropriate darkness from -4 to 4. The default is 0. |
Edge Erase Top | Removes the top margin from the scan. Choose a value between 0-1000, in increments of 100. |
Edge Erase Left | Removes the left margin from the scan. Choose a value between 0-1000, in increments of 100. |
Edge Erase Right | Removes the right margin from the scan. Choose a value between 0-1000. in increments of 100. |
Edge Erase Bottom | Removes the bottom margin from the scan. Choose a value between 0-1000, in increments of 100. |
Scan Preview (hard drive) | Displays a preview of the scan before it is complete.

Background Removal |
Lightens the background to increase visibility of a faint image. A higher value changes lighter shades to white. Choose the appropriate level from -4 to 4. The default is 0, which is neutral. |
Color Dropout (2.0) | Turns the selected color to white to support form processing
functions. Also turns dark marks and notations to black. This
setting only affects gray scale jobs.

Color Dropout Threshold (2.0) | Specify the threshold for shades to become either black or white.
By increasing the threshold, darker shades become black while
lighter shades become white. By decreasing the threshold, darker
shades become white while lighter shades become black. Choose a value between 0-255, in increments of 25. |
Contrast | Adjust the contrast between black and white in the scan. Choose the appropriate contrast from 0 to 5. The default is 3. |
JPEG Quality | Choose a value between 5-90, in increments of 5. |

Designer.

Negative Image (2.0) | Specifies if you are scanning photo negatives.
|
Shadow Detail | Specifies the black-point level of the scan. Choose the appropriate level between -4 to 4. |
Scan Edge to Edge | Specifies the amount of content to scan on a page.
|
Sharpness | Choose the appropriate sharpness from 1-5. The default is 3. |
One Page Copy | Specifies if it is a one-page scan.

Scanner Jam Recovery (2.0) | Specifies whether the full or partial job must be resubmitted
when the job is canceled for any reason.

Color Balance Blue |
This setting adjusts the amount of blue in a copy image. This setting is only available for the native copy application. Choose the appropriate level between -4 to 4. |
Color Balance Green |
This setting adjusts the amount of green in a copy image. This setting is only available for the native copy application. Choose the appropriate level between -4 to 4. |
Color Balance Red |
This setting adjusts the amount of red in a copy image. This setting is only available for the native copy application. Choose the appropriate level between -4 to 4. |
Temperature |
This setting adjusts the color temperature of the scanned image. A higher value makes the image more red. A lower value makes the image more blue. This setting is only available for the native scanning application. Choose the appropriate level between -4 to 4. |
