Socket settings tab (Destination Configuration)
Use this tab to configure a socket destination.
Documents routed to this destination will be sent to the IP address and port specified. You can access this tab when you create or configure a socket destination.
Socket settings
You can configure a default value and a dynamic override for each option. Default values are used to manage the documents as they are being sent to the destination. You can choose to dynamically override the default values using document properties and functions.
- To insert document properties, right-click in the desired override box and click Insert Document Property. A menu containing all of the available properties displays. You can select a property from the list or type the property name. If a property is selected and it contains a value, that value is processed instead of the default value.
- To insert functions, right-click in the box, click Insert Function, and choose the appropriate function. Review the Using Output Manager functions help topic for information on configuring functions.
Set the following parameters for a socket destination:
-
IP address — Specifies the IP address or equivalent host name of the print server where the documents will be sent.
IPv4 and IPv6 addresses are supported.
-
Port — Specifies the number that enables IP packets to be sent to a particular process on a computer. The default number is 9100.
-
Retry on timeout — Specifies if you want to retry printing to this destination if a timeout occurs.
-
Send copies as separate transmissions — Select this option to send documents to the destination multiple times (based on the copy count property of the document).
When printing a duplex document, select this option if you want each document to print on its own sheets of paper. If not selected, a duplexed document that has odd number of pages will have its second copy’s first page print on the back of the first copy’s last page.
When a printer is configured to use a separator page, select this option to allow the separator page to be inserted by the printer. If not selected, only the first copy would have a separator page. A separator page would not appear between each of the copies.
