Create a print rule
- In System Configuration, select Rules and Routing and click Add rule set.
- In the Add Rule Set dialog box, type a Rule set name and Description for the Rule Set. When you apply the rule set to a device, you can identify the set by this name.
- Click Save.
- Expand the Rule Set in the list, and then click Add rule.

In the Rule page, do the following:
- Enter a rule Name.
- Select one of the following options from the Type drop-down list.
- Apply this rule to server and workstation direct IP printing
- Apply this rule to desktop printing
- Apply this rule to copying (does not apply to print rules)
- Apply this rule to printing or copying
- Select a rule Action from the list.
- They are only supported on some models using PCL5, PCL6 and PostScript data streams. Please confirm compatibility in conjunction with your printer drivers before implementing into production.
- Not all actions support interactive print rules. For a list of supported actions, see Interactive print rules.
- There is no message option for force monochrome and force duplex. However, it is possible to add a notification message rule to the rule set. These are the only print actions where a second rule in a rule set is executed. The criteria of the two rules must match.
- This print rule is only applicable to server and application direct IP printing.
- Selecting the Output Manager Server and the Source will direct all the print jobs from Equitrac to Output Manager.
- Adding conditions to the rule will specify the scenario when the rule is applicable to the print jobs, such as, the time of the day.
- This print rule is only applicable to server and application direct IP printing.
- Selecting the AutoStore Server and the required workflow with the related workflow fields which will direct all the print jobs from Equitrac to Autostore.
- Adding conditions to the rule will specify the scenario when the rule is applicable to the print jobs, such as, the time of the day.
- This print rule is only applicable to server and application direct IP printing.
- Adding watermarking and specifying the text and orientation of watermarking directs the print job to Output Manager for watermarking and then sent to Equitrac MFP for printing.
- Adding conditions to the rule will specify the scenario when the rule is applicable to the print jobs, such as, the day of the week.
- Watermarking helps to configure a rule to place a watermark on each page of a document such as "internal" or "Confidential" and this raises awareness that the data needs to be treated with care.
- This print rule is only applicable to server and application direct IP printing.
- Applying userstamp and defining the stamp attributes such as stamp text, location on page will direct the print job to Output Manager for userstamping and then sent to Equitrac MFP for printing.
- Adding conditions to the rule will specify the scenario when the rule is applicable to the print jobs, such as, the day of the week.
- User stamping helps to configure a rule in Equitrac that stamps each page of a document with user information in a specified location, and these stamped documents can assist in tracking chain of custody when sensitive documents are found.
- Add the custom message in the Custom Message field by inserting the tokens and entering value for the tokens.
- Click Add Condition to add a rule condition.

Toggle the Interactive rule button if you want users to be
able to interact with the rule.
- Select a timeout value (in seconds) from the Prompt timeout list.
- Specify a custom message for the user to see on the Client desktop alert popup.
- Click Save.
Some actions require you to send a message to the user or select a
device where jobs can be redirected to. If you attempt to continue setting the rule
without providing this information, the Save button is not
enabled.
Do not use the "&" character in custom messages,
as it does not display correctly in the Client desktop alert popup.

Some rule criteria require you to specify number of pages, departments, groups,
and so on. If you attempt to continue setting the rule without providing this
information, the Save button is not enabled.
Do not use the "&" character in custom messages, as it does not display correctly in the Client desktop alert popup.
If the global error notifications are set to use Email, the user receives
the messages via email in addition to the popup on their desktop. See Select notification methods.
